Supreme Court Ruling Fosters New Era of NCAA Amateurism

The Supreme Court's June 21, 2021, decision in NCAA v. Alston ended the NCAA’s efforts to stall reform of its amateurism model, say Stephen Miller and Calli Padilla in Bloomberg Law Insights. Now, that reform will happen with or without NCAA cooperation. In fact, it has already begun in states that are passing legislation allowing athletes to equitably get name-image-likeness payments and get paid for endorsements.
