WASHINGTON, March 4, 2026 — Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies, the bipartisan government relations and communications affiliate of international law firm Cozen O’Connor, today announced that Alexandra DeRiso has joined the firm as a principal on its health care team.
“Alex brings extensive experience on both sides of the Capitol, and on committees with jurisdiction over federal health policy,” said Howard Schweitzer, CEO of Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies. “Her background and relationships will further strengthen our ability to serve clients on the full range of federal health policy matters.”
DeRiso joins Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies from the office of Rep. Troy Balderson (R-Ohio), where she served as senior legislative assistant and counsel. In that role, she managed the office’s health care portfolio, including preparation for House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health; health-focused oversight hearings, legislative research and analysis; and drafting of legislative text, amendments, and floor speeches. Her portfolio also included tax and trade matters.
Before joining Rep. Balderson’s office, DeRiso served as health care and oversight counsel for Sen. Mike Braun (R-Ind.) on the Senate Special Committee on Aging. She also served as a health policy fellow for Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), the top Republican on the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee. Her combined House and Senate experience provides deep insight into federal health policymaking and the processes governing major health programs and reforms.

DeRiso earned her J.D. from New England Law Boston, where she specialized in health care law, and her bachelor’s degree from The George Washington University.
