John assists clients with all aspects of complex commercial litigation and investigations by state and federal regulatory bodies in New York, New Jersey, and federal courts. He also assists with certain criminal cases. John has defended clients from consumer protection claims, government investigations arising under New York General Business Law §§ 349 and 350, FINRA enforcement matters, mass tort actions, class actions, landlord-tenant disputes, and federal criminal investigations. He has also helped clients bring breach of contract actions and Article 78 proceedings.
John’s practice covers the full life of a case: pleadings and affirmative defenses, removal and jurisdictional strategy, motions to dismiss and compel arbitration, large e-discovery productions involving medical records and forensic evidence, depositions, summary judgment practice, negotiated resolutions, and trial preparation.
Public service is also an important part of John’s practice. For example, he has helped individuals seal their criminal records pursuant to the Youth Rehabilitation Act with Rising for Justice in Washington D.C. and has assisted with Criminal Justice Act cases in the Southern District of New York.
John graduated from Brooklyn Law School cum laude. While in law school, he interned at The Exoneration Initiative and the Legal Aid Society’s Criminal Defense Practice; served as an executive articles and symposia editor for the Brooklyn Law School Journal of Law and Policy and as a board member of Brooklyn Law’s Courtroom Advocacy Project; and was a legal extern for the Honorable Kiyo A. Matsumoto, District Court Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. John earned his undergraduate degree from Binghamton University and is an Eagle Scout.
