Josh is a seasoned antitrust litigator who represents clients in complex civil antitrust litigation, government investigations, and high-stakes commercial disputes. His practice encompasses a broad range of competition matters, including monopolization, conspiracy, unfair competition, merger challenges, and other restraints of trade. He regularly advises and advocates for clients in the technology, telecommunications, media, sports, and automotive sectors.
Josh draws on significant public- and private-sector experience. Prior to joining private practice, he served as senior litigation counsel and trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Division, where he was a member of the litigation team in the landmark United States v. Google search monopolization case. During the 10-week trial, he examined and cross-examined key fact and expert witnesses and helped lead merger and conduct investigations involving the technology, media, and sports industries.
In private practice, Josh has represented plaintiffs and defendants in some of the nation's most significant antitrust matters. His experience includes litigation involving streaming television, automotive dealer management systems, telecommunications, and consumer protection issues. He has handled all phases of litigation, from investigations and pleadings through discovery, motion practice, trial, and appeal.
Before his service at the Department of Justice, Josh practiced at firms where he represented clients in complex commercial and antitrust disputes. Earlier in his career, he clerked for Judge M. Margaret McKeown of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Josh earned his J.D., summa cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif, was awarded the George P. Mickum III Prize for the highest first-year GPA, and was the senior articles editor and on the senior board of The Georgetown Law Journal. Prior to entering the legal profession, Josh worked as a newspaper reporter, including covering state government and legislative matters. That background informs his ability to distill complex issues into clear, persuasive advocacy for clients confronting significant business and regulatory challenges. He earned his B.A., cum laude, from the University of Charleston.
