James is a patent agent supporting attorneys in the Hatch-Waxman and Biologics Practice. His experience includes patent prosecution, intellectual property due diligence, client counseling, freedom-to-operate analyses, prior art searches, technical claim interpretation, and invalidity analyses.
James has previously supported clients across a broad range of technologies, including oil and gas, polymers, medicinal chemistry, nanotechnology, materials science, and clean energy. He has also assisted with patent litigation by conducting prior art analyses and preparing technical support for patent validity, infringement, and claim construction matters. Before transitioning to intellectual property law, James spent seven years conducting research in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, small molecules, and peptidomimetics.
James earned both his B.S. and Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Houston before serving as a postdoctoral researcher in organic chemistry from 2021 to 2023 at Rice University. He is expected to receive his J.D. from South Texas College of Law Houston in 2029.
