Geng Hua, Ph.D.

Associate

Geng focuses his practice on intellectual property, particularly in patent prosecution and litigation.

Prior to joining the firm as an associate, Geng participated in the Cozen O'Connor Summer Associate Program, where he gained substantive experience in the firm's IP practice, drafting instruction letters to foreign patent agents, responding to USPTO and foreign patent offices' Office Actions, drafting petitions to cancel trademark registrations, drafting research memoranda, and assisting with arbitration hearings.

Geng earned his law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he was the Thomas Fessenden IP Law Scholar, served as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Law, Technology and the Internet, and was the co-president of the Student IP Law Association. During law school, he was also a legal extern with the Cleveland Clinic, Parker-Hannifin, and AlphaMicron, Inc. where he gained hands-on experience working with inventors and drafting patent applications, patentability reports, and invention disclosures.

Before law school, Geng earned his Ph.D. in polymer technology from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, his master's degree in polymer chemistry from the University of Akron, and his undergraduate degree from East China University of Science and Technology in Shanghai, China. While training for his Ph.D., Geng researched topics such as 3D printing, antimicrobial materials, medical devices, peptide synthesis, polymer processing, polymer synthesis, small molecule synthesis, and sustainability.
