Tilden brings more than 20 years of strategic communications and media relations experience working with companies, nonprofits, academic institutions, and law firms across the country. A former litigation attorney, he helps organizations of all sizes enhance their business prospects and protect their public standing.
Tilden has designed and executed communication strategies for market-leading organizations, including Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Chemours, Exxon, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Merck, NCAA, Office Max, Pomona College, Redflex Traffic Systems, Tribune Publishing, and Walgreens. He has advised numerous boards of directors, corporate executives, and outside counsel during critical events. He has also counseled both plaintiffs and defendants in high-profile matters, including antitrust, contract, class-action, financial, labor and employment, medical malpractice, product liability, regulatory, toxic tort, and white-collar criminal cases.
Earlier in his career, Tilden was a managing director at FTI Consulting where he helped lead the litigation communications practice. He also co-founded and led the Chicago office of APCO Worldwide for eight years, helping make the office among the most profitable in the company.
Tilden’s practice combines his legal training with the advocacy, media relations, and political campaign work he did in the years prior to law school. During that time, he led a political organization and served as a political adviser to numerous officials including the San Francisco district attorney and Missouri state speaker of the house.
Tilden teaches the course "Litigation, Crises & Strategic Communication" at Northwestern University School of Law and was voted Outstanding Adjunct Professor in 2021. He is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and provides pro bono counseling to individuals and nonprofits.
Tilden earned his J.D. at Northwestern University School of Law and his B.A., with honors, at Wesleyan University.
