Matt is a trial lawyer who represents businesses, insurers, property owners, contractors, and individuals in complex civil litigation across Texas. His practice spans catastrophic personal injury, commercial disputes, employment litigation, premises liability, construction defect claims, land and property disputes, insurance defense, and other high-exposure matters. He has extensive experience handling cases in both state and federal courts from inception through trial, appeal, and resolution.
Matt has tried numerous jury cases to verdict, including matters involving Fortune 500 companies, and has secured favorable outcomes in catastrophic injury, premises liability, product liability, and commercial litigation disputes. He has successfully obtained summary judgments and dismissals, argued Daubert motions, conducted expert discovery, and managed large and complex litigation dockets.
Throughout his career, he has conducted more than 100 depositions and has handled hundreds of hearings, mediations, and contested proceedings. He also has experience representing professionals in liability and disciplinary matters, employers in workplace-related litigation, and parties in large-loss subrogation and construction defect cases. In addition, Matt has handled appeals before Texas appellate courts and the Supreme Court of Texas.
Prior to joining Cozen O'Connor, Matt was a partner with a full-service firm headquartered in Austin. Matt earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Texas Tech University School of Law, where he served as comment editor of the Texas Tech Law Review. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Texas A&M University. When he's not working, Matt enjoys running, reading, Texas BBQ, listening to music, spending time hiking with his wife and daughters.
