Marlee Sonico

Associate

Marlee is a dedicated and resourceful associate supporting the firm’s litigation practice groups. They gained experience as a summer associate in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office in 2023 and 2024.

Before beginning law school, Marlee worked as a staff assistant and voter protection assistant for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and as an operations associate for the Democratic National Committee.  

Marlee earned their J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where they were managing editor of the Georgetown Journal of Law & Modern Critical Race Perspectives. As a student attorney with the Georgetown Law Criminal Defense & Prisoner Advocacy Clinic, Marlee represented indigent clients facing trial in misdemeanor cases in D.C. Superior Court and clients facing revocation hearings before the U.S. Parole Commission. Marlee was active in student organizations on campus, serving as the internal vice president for Georgetown Law’s Asian Pacific American Law Students Association and as a mentor for underrepresented students at Georgetown.

Marlee graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where they earned degrees in politics (with a concentration in political theory) and in legal studies.

In addition to their private practice, Marlee is committed to pro bono service and civic engagement. Marlee has provided pro bono representation to indigent individuals in matters including criminal record sealing and compassionate release. They have also supported a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring voting rights for formerly incarcerated individuals who have completed the terms of their sentences.
