Friday, June 1, 2018

David Zambito, co-chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Utility, Environmental & Energy Practice, is quoted in the Central Penn Business Journal on the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission’s decision to exclude Columbia Water Co. customers from utility rate cuts. The article notes that the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission required rate cuts for 17 utility companies effective July 1, 2017, but Columbia Water was excluded because it has not been charging customers federal taxes. As a result, questions are arising as to whether federal tax cut should or should not be a factor in the rate adjustments affecting other utilities this summer.

"But, by and large, I think the utilities know they are dealing with their regulator and will try to work with this ruling," David said in the article.
