PHILADELPHIA, March 20, 2019 — Cozen O'Connor Construction Law Practice Chair Bruce W. Ficken has been selected as a Philadelphia Inquirer 2019 Influencers of Law Award Winner in the category of Business Litigation. Ficken was selected by a panel of experts based on accomplishments in his practice area, his business impact, and his civic and community service.
Ficken is a nationally recognized member of the construction litigation bar. He has first chaired more than 60 major U.S.-based trials and international arbitrations. He has helped resolve some of the nation’s largest and most complex construction-related disputes of the last three decades, from redevelopment of the World Trade Center site to pipeline construction in the Marcellus Shale. Ranked Band 1 in Construction Law by Chambers USA and Best Lawyer’s 2017 Philadelphia Construction “Lawyer of the Year,” Ficken also has the notable distinction of being one of the few construction litigators ever named a fellow of the prestigious invitation-only American College of Trial Lawyers.
A member of the board of trustees of The Whitemarsh Foundation, Ficken works with the organization to fulfill its mission of acquiring and protecting open space in the Whitemarsh Valley and surrounding areas. Since 2010 he has served as a member of the board of trustees at his alma mater Susquehanna University. Ficken sits on the Governance Committee and is vice chair of the Investment Fund. As a member of the board of trustees of Legacy Youth Tennis and Education, a local nonprofit that provides low- to no-cost tennis instruction to city kids through after-school and community programs to promote fitness, nutrition, leadership, and achievement, Ficken has worked to diligently to support the organization’s mission.
Ficken, along with the other winners, will be honored at an awards ceremony on March 26, as well as profiled in a special section of the Sunday Inquirer.
