Matthew is a member of the firm’s Fraud and Recovery practice, where he focuses his practice on high-stakes complex insurance litigation, including the investigation and litigation of complex fraud schemes.
Matthew represents insurance carriers in all phases of litigation, from initial investigation through trial. His experience includes handling discovery, motion practice, evidentiary hearings, and dispositive motions, as well as preparing matters for trial and appellate review. He regularly appears in state courts throughout Florida, where he advocates on a wide range of procedural and substantive issues, including evidentiary and summary judgment motions.
In his practice, Matthew analyzes insurance policies, statutes, and evolving case law to develop strategic defenses and position matters for favorable outcomes. He is skilled at crafting comprehensive litigation strategies, drafting pleadings and dispositive motions, and presenting arguments in court. He also manages litigation teams, mentoring associates and coordinating with paralegals to ensure efficient case progression.
Prior to joining Cozen O'Connor, Matthew was a partner at a Florida-based law firm, where he concentrated on insurance defense litigation. Matt earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he served as a teaching assistant for legal research and writing, appellate advocacy, and trial practice. He also earned his B.S., cum laude, in Public Relations from the University of Florida, with additional concentrations in entrepreneurship, education, and sports management.
