Cecil focuses his practice primarily on high exposure and high-risk casualty and complex tort litigation, including matters involving claims of products liability, negligence, professional negligence, premises liability, construction defect, construction casualty, and toxic tort. Cecil has extensive experience handling all aspects of the litigation process, from the pleading stage through appeal. He has successfully defended clients at trial and arbitration in both federal and state court. He has also successfully argued a number of cases on appeal before the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Prior to joining the firm, Cecil was a partner with a regional insurance defense firm based in Philadelphia, serving as lead counsel representing clients in many diverse areas of law and established a proven reputation with his clients as being capable of taking on cases involving unique subject matters with challenging legal issues and consistently delivered highly successful, cost-effective results.
Cecil also regularly represents clients in matters involving commercial litigation, real estate, condominium disputes, breach of contract, unfair competition, trade secrets, tortious interference with contractual relations, and other business disputes. Cecil also regularly handles employment law matters for clients and has appeared before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC), and other federal and state agencies, defending against claims for employment discrimination, violations of the ADA, FMLA, and other statutory claims, as well as claims for wrongful discharge.
Cecil earned his J.D., cum laude, from Samford University, Cumberland School of Law, and his B.A. from the University of Georgia. During law school, Cecil was articles editor for the American Journal of Trial Advocacy. Cecil was also a member of his law school’s National Moot Court team, served as a member on the Henry Upson Simms Moot Court Board, and was awarded Overall Winner and Best Brief in the Janie L. Shores Moot Court Competition. Cecil also interned for the Honorable John E. Ott, Chief Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. There he gained valuable experience in federal court practice, providing legal research support, and drafting opinions in pending cases before the court.
