Theresa is a litigator who represents companies, developers, design professionals, manufacturers, and other businesses in complex commercial disputes. She regularly serves as lead counsel in high-stakes matters involving alleged design defects, construction deficiencies, engineering product failures, contractual disputes, and professional negligence claims, with damages ranging from hundreds of thousands to tens of millions of dollars.
Theresa has extensive experience advising clients throughout all stages of litigation, from initial risk assessments and investigations through discovery, mediation, arbitration, hearings, and appeal. She has experience representing architects, engineers, developers, contractors, manufacturers, technology companies, agribusinesses, and other commercial entities in disputes involving construction projects, industrial equipment, software implementations, commercial agreements, securities matters, and regulatory proceedings. She also counsels business leaders and construction professionals on liability exposure, litigation strategy, and dispute resolution opportunities.
Dual licensed in Canada and California, Theresa has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta, including the Alberta Court of Appeal, and has acted for clients in other Canadian provinces. Theresa has represented clients in arbitrations, mediations, municipal proceedings, regulatory investigations, and administrative matters. She is particularly experienced in managing complex, document-intensive disputes, including coordinating multidisciplinary expert teams and leveraging technology-assisted discovery strategies in large-scale litigation.
Prior to joining Cozen O'Connor, Theresa was a partner in the commercial litigation practice of an international law firm in Canada. Before joining private practice, Theresa spent more than five years with a large Fortune 100 company in its European headquarters in Ireland, where she held project management, operations, and business process roles supporting global business initiatives. Her experience advising business stakeholders on operational, compliance, and strategic matters provides her with a practical understanding of the legal and commercial challenges her clients face.
Theresa earned her law degree from University College Cork in Ireland and completed the Federation of Law Societies of Canada, National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) exams in Canada.
