Small business owners in the construction and business/professional services sectors expressed the most support for a higher minimum wage. “Small business sectors that involve professionals and higher-skilled labor tend to be more progressive and supportive of social causes like living wage initiatives,” said David. “These sectors tend to be the least affected and can generally afford to pay more…so they view the measure as acceptable.”
