Cozen O’Connor Attorneys Eisenberg, Ferrer, Giotto and Tilson Recognized in 2020 Chambers Global Rankings

PHILADELPHIA, February 17, 2020Chambers Global has recognized four Cozen O’ Connor attorneys, Susan Eisenberg (Miami – Labor & Employment), Geoffrey Ferrer (New York – Transportation & Trade), Thomas Giotto (Pittsburgh – Labor and Employment), and Joseph Tilson (Chicago – Labor & Employment), as worldwide leaders in their respective practices. All four attorneys are also ranked in the Chambers USA Guide

The annual Chambers Global rankings are based on client and peer references from around the world as well as information gathered from Chambers’ own independent research. Attorneys are ranked in their practice areas based on their legal knowledge and experience, ability, effectiveness and client service.

Eisenberg, the office managing partner of Cozen O’Connor’s Miami office, has been ranked in the Chambers USA Guide since 2004. She is described in the rankings as having “solid knowledge and experience in labor topics” and is highlighted for her “solution-oriented approach.”  In addition, market commentators call her “a real leader in what she does” and “an impressive attorney.” Nationally known for proficiency in wage and hour class action cases, she is Board Certified by The Florida Bar in Labor and Employment, a fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and is a certified mediator and arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association. This is the fifth time she has been recognized by Chambers Global.

Ferrer, the office managing partner of the New York office and vice chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Transportation & Trade Practice, has been ranked in the Chambers USA Guide since 2014. He is highlighted in the rankings as “a very strong maritime lawyer who knows the business and industry.”  Furthermore, clients say he is “excellent, efficient, fast and reliable” as well as “very responsive and has a full grasp of his subject matter.” He focuses his finance practice on the representation of vessel owners and operators, and financial institutions in US and non-US flag shipping matters. He is the author of the “Judicial Sales and Priority of Liens — United States,” chapter in the Maritime Law Handbook.  This is the second year he has been recognized by  Chambers Global.

Giotto, co-chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Labor and Employment Department, has been ranked in the Chambers USA Guide since 2006. He is highlighted in the rankings as “highly recommended for his expertise in traditional labor issues” and his ability to “advise on a full range of employment litigation.” Giotto helped launch a new, full-service Pittsburgh office when he joined the firm in 2017 and has  been instrumental in rapidly growing that office from three to 30 attorneys in just three years. He concentrates his practice on representing management in many aspects of labor, employment, and employment-related litigation including  representing employers during union organizing campaigns, collective bargaining, and grievance arbitrations. Giotto was named Best Lawyers’ 2013 and 2018 Pittsburgh Employment Law – Management “Lawyer of the Year.” This is the first year he has been recognized by Chambers Global.  

Tilson, co-chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Labor & Employment Department, has been ranked in the Chambers USA Guide since 2004. He is highlighted in the rankings as “… top in his field and  well versed in all areas of labor and employment.” Tilson’s peers describe him as “first-class and outstanding,” while his clients praise his “ability to simplify complex concepts for multiple layers of client management.” Nationally known for his knowledge and success in handling large wage and hour class action cases, Tilson also has vast experience in collective bargaining involving large and complex bargaining units. He is the immediate past-Chair of the American Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section, one of its largest sections with over 12,000 members. Best Lawyers named Tilson Chicago Employment Law “Lawyer of the Year” in 2011, 2014, 2017 and 2018. This is the fifth time he has been recognized by Chambers Global.
