Thursday, February 17, 2022

Philadelphia, February 17, 2022 — Chambers Global has recognized four Cozen O’Connor attorneys: Susan Eisenberg (Miami – Labor & Employment), Geoffrey Ferrer (New York – Transportation & Trade), Shane Hardy (Toronto – Intellectual Property), and Joseph Tilson (Chicago – Labor & Employment), as worldwide leaders in their respective practices. Eisenberg, Ferrer, and Tilson are also ranked in the Chambers USA Guide and Hardy is ranked in Chambers Canada.

The annual Chambers Global rankings are based on client and peer references from around the world as well as information gathered from Chambers’ own independent research. Attorneys are ranked in their practice areas based on their legal knowledge and experience, ability, effectiveness, and client service.

Susan Eisenberg, the office managing partner of Cozen O’Connor’s Miami office, has been ranked in the Chambers USA Guide since 2004. She is described in the global rankings as “a leader at the Bar for the past 25 years and a go-to person for complex cases.” Her clients describe her as: “bright, analytical and straight-shooting” as she helps them achieve their goals. Nationally known for proficiency in wage and hour class action cases, she is board certified by The Florida Bar in Labor and Employment law, a fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and is a certified mediator and arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association. Eisenberg is also a founding member and past president of the Wage and Hour Defense Institute (WHDI). This is the seventh year she has been recognized by Chambers Global.

Geoffrey Ferrer, co-managing partner of the New York office and vice chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Transportation & Trade Practice, has been ranked in the Chambers USA Guide since 2014. He is described in the global rankings as “an extremely efficient worker and capable of narrowing complicated issues down very quickly." Ferrer focuses his finance practice on the representation of vessel owners and operators, and financial institutions in U.S. and non-U.S. flag shipping matters. He is the author of the "Judicial Sales and Priority of Liens - United States," chapter in the Maritime Law Handbook. This is the fourth year he has been recognized by Chambers Global. Ferrer has also been ranked in 2021 and 2022 in the Chambers Asia-Pacific guide.

Shane Hardy, chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Canadian Intellectual Property Practice Group and co-managing partner of the Toronto office, has an extensive trademark practice and is one of the few Canadian practitioners recognized for his experience in both contentious proceedings and commercial transactions relating to intellectual property. "Of the lawyers I have worked with in the past he has really stood out," stated one client in the global rankings, adding: "He takes the time to understand our business and is more a business partner to us." Equally adept at both dispute and transactional-based matters, Hardy frequently represents well-known brands needing assistance in acquiring branded businesses, licensing, enforcement, and trademark protection. Major international corporations and successful domestic businesses rely on his counsel for all aspects of their intellectual property needs. Hardy has also been recognized by Managing Intellectual Property, World Intellectual Property Review, and the World Trademark Review Top 1000. This is the third year he has been ranked by Chambers Global.

Joseph Tilson, co-chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Labor and Employment Department, has been ranked in the Chambers USA Guide since 2004. He is described in the global rankings as “a go-to lawyer for both private and public employers on matters such as wage and hour class actions,” while his clients enthuse: “He is brilliant, innovative and creative.” Nationally known for his knowledge and success in handling large wage and hour class action cases, Tilson also has vast experience in collective bargaining involving large and complex bargaining units. He is a past chair of the American Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section, one of its largest sections with over 12,000 members.
