Stephen Pate Named President-Elect of the American College of Coverage Counsel

CHICAGO, May 1, 2024 — Stephen P. Pate, member of the Global Insurance Department and co-chair of the property insurance practice, has been named president-elect of the American College of Coverage Counsel (ACCC) at the Annual Business Meeting at the 2024 Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois. Stephen will serve as president in 2025. Stephen is a founding member of the ACCC, and most recently served as secretary-treasurer on the 2023 – 2024  Board of Regents. Stephen has also served on the Membership Committee, and as a member of the Executive Committee. 

Stephen’s insurance practice focuses on representing carriers in a variety of insurance coverage disputes including first party property insurance disputes, bad faith issues, CGL matters, and insurance regulatory matters. Over a 30-year career in coverage work, he has tried more than 45 first-party extracontractual cases to verdict. He is a frequent author and speaker. He is also a member of the American Law Institute and an advocate in the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Established in 2012, the American College of Coverage Counsel the preeminent association of U.S., Canadian, and Bermudan lawyers who represent the interests of insurers and policyholders. The ACCC’s mission is to advance the creative, ethical, and efficient resolution of insurance coverage and extracontractual disputes; to enhance the civility and quality of the practice of insurance law; to provide peer-reviewed scholarship; and to improve the relationships among the members of our profession.
