Rafael has experience in every facet of insurance coverage litigation involving complex, multiparty environmental contamination, and toxic-related tort claims. He manages allocation-related coverage disputes (equitable contribution, subrogation, etc.) through all phases of pre-trial litigation, including formulation of pleadings, drafting and arguing procedural and substantive motions, and conducting written discovery and taking depositions. Rafael also advises and provides counsel to insurance companies regarding coverage obligations under commercial general liability, employment practices liability, and professional liability policies.
Rafael received his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law and his B.A. in political science from The University of Tampa. Following law school, Rafael served as a Judicial Law Clerk in the Illinois Circuit Court of Cook County.
