Cozen O’Connor Lands Veteran South Florida Real Estate Attorney Carlos M. Rodriguez

Rodriguez — who brings a multi-faceted, 25-year legal career in commercial real estate, corporate compliance, family office, and new business development — joins the firm’s international Real Estate practice as a member.

Carlos focuses his practice on commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, development, financing, leasing, joint ventures, title insurance, and other complex real estate matters. He has deep ties to the South Florida business and real estate communities and extensive experience with the domestic and international investment, development, and financing activity shaping the region.

With more than 25 years of experience, Carlos brings both a legal and business perspective to his practice. He began his legal career with an international law firm, where he represented clients in commercial real estate and corporate transactions. Since then, he has represented developers, owners, investors, lenders, financial institutions, family offices, privately held businesses, and other clients in significant commercial real estate and corporate transactions. His experience includes serving as lead real estate counsel on major South Florida development and financing matters involving large mixed-use projects and substantial real estate portfolios. He has substantial experience assisting foreign investors and businesses with their U.S. interests and is familiar with the legal and business environments of countries throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe. In addition to his real estate practice, he has counseled domestic and international clients on a broad range of business matters, including corporate formation, mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, joint ventures, corporate finance, and succession planning.

Most recently, Carlos served as an executive on the leadership team at a national title insurance company. He previously held other senior executive roles in the title insurance industry, including overseeing operations, underwriting support, agency relationships, strategic partnerships, and business development initiatives. This experience gives him a practical understanding of the legal issues, business objectives, operational considerations, and risks that influence his clients’ decisions.

Carlos is active in the South Florida community and currently serves on the board of directors of the Junior Orange Bowl. He previously served on the executive board and as outside general counsel of First Tee Miami and as chairman of the PGA TOUR Latinoamérica Tour Championship. Carlos earned his J.D. from the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law and his B.S. in criminology, with a minor in business administration, from Florida State University. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
