MIAMI, October 6, 2026 – International law firm Cozen O’Connor has continued its South Florida growth, adding one of the state’s most established and well-regarded real estate attorneys, Carlos M. Rodriguez, to its Miami office. Rodriguez — who brings a multi-faceted, 25-year legal career in commercial real estate, corporate compliance, family office, and new business development — joins the firm’s international Real Estate practice as a member. He is the firm’s seventh major addition in South Florida this year, joining corporate attorneys Mark Kahn and Raphael Rosenzweig and commercial litigators James J. Duffy, Adam K. Hodges, Andrew M. Lowenstein, and David I. Spector.
Over the past three decades — in private practice and as an executive-level attorney with some of the largest title insurance companies in the U.S. — Rodriguez has cultivated and advised a wide range of clients, including global financial institutions, major real estate developers and investors, family offices, and numerous privately held businesses. Most recently, he served as senior vice president and managing director at AmTrust Title Insurance Company — part of AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. — overseeing new business development nationwide and operations in Florida.
“The South Florida real estate market, which continues to be characterized by rising prices and strong demand from both domestic and international buyers, is a key component of our firm’s growth strategy,” said Jonathan W. Knipe, co-chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Real Estate practice. “All of which makes Carlos an ideal fit for our Miami office. He’s not only well-versed in the many issues impacting corporate compliance and corporate finance, but he also brings to us a network of strong working relationships throughout the state. He’s an important addition to our practice and I’m pleased to welcome him to Cozen O’Connor.”
Fluent in Spanish and English, Rodriguez’s career includes serving in private practice while also holding legal and senior executive roles in Fortune 500 companies. He has advised and represented a diverse set of public, private, and international clients on real estate and related business matters. Further, with South Florida ranked among the fastest-growing and most important private wealth markets in the country, he is also a certified family business specialist and has advised on a range of family office matters.
“When you consider the current surge in corporate relocations, combined with increasing demand in the commercial and residential sectors, South Florida is easily one of the most dynamic real estate markets in the country,” said Miami office managing partner Jason Domark. “As an adviser on numerous large-scale commercial transactions, Carlos brings a strong background in real estate, corporate law, and strategic business development. He knows the importance of understanding both the law and the client’s specific business needs and practices. He’s a great addition to the Miami office, and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
Rodriguez maintains a busy schedule outside the office as well. He’s currently a board member with the Junior Orange Bowl, a prominent youth organization in South Florida. Previously, he served as an executive board member and outside general counsel with First Tee Miami, a youth development organization integrating golf with a life skills curriculum; the tournament chairman of the PGA TOUR Latinoamérica Tour Championship; and as tournament director for world and national championships for The Junior Tour Powered by Under Armour.
“As an attorney who has spent his entire career in South Florida, I am excited about the opportunity to leverage Cozen O’Connor’s national platform and strong reputation,” Rodriguez said. “The firm has the depth to serve clients across a wide range of needs while remaining practical about how that work is delivered. I’m looking forward to building on the firm’s collaborative culture and its many legal resources. Those resources, combined with my team building and business development skills, make this move a really strong fit.”
Rodriguez earned his J.D. at the University of Florida’s Fredric G. Levin College of Law, a B.S. in criminology with a minor in business administration at Florida State University, and an A.A. in criminal justice at Miami Dade College.
