David is a nationally recognized trial lawyer, focusing his practice on the investigation and litigation of complex fraud schemes and other high-stakes commercial disputes. He represents property and casualty and health insurers, financial institutions, self-insured retailers, and other market leaders in affirmative fraud litigation and recovery matters across the United States, as well as businesses and individuals in high stakes commercial litigation.
David serves as lead trial counsel in cases involving insurance fraud, unfair and deceptive practices, unlawful healthcare and ownership structures, and the submission of fraudulent claims. His work in plaintiff-side fraud litigation has helped shape precedent that strengthens corporate and insurer recovery rights, resulting in favorable jury verdicts, summary judgments, and other significant resolutions. He routinely collaborates with clients to develop and implement investigative strategies designed to identify patterns of fraudulent conduct and mitigate future risk.
In addition to insurance-related matters, David has substantial experience in complex commercial litigation, including non-insurance fraud disputes, high-stakes business conflicts, and claims brought under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). His practice also includes defending lawyers and law firms in matters involving allegations of legal malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty.
Before joining Cozen O'Connor, David was most recently the founder and co-chair of an Insurance Fraud and Recovery practice at an Am Law 50 firm. Prior to that, he founded and co-chaired a fraud and recovery practice at an Am Law 100 firm, where he also served as chairman and chief executive officer. David earned his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law and his B.S. from Syracuse University.
