Curtis, office managing partner in Boulder, counsels a broad range of international clients – from startups to Fortune 500 companies and universities – on strategy, intellectual property prosecution and litigation, licensing, and corporate counseling. Curtis and his experienced patent prosecution team file applications in technology areas such as wearable devices, artificial intelligence, consumer electronics, orthopedic devices, focal plane arrays, aerospace and aircraft technologies, applications/software, security and blockchain software, drones and satellites, sensors and IoT devices, quantum computing, and other areas.

Curtis also serves as counsel for a number of public, private, and not-for-profit organizations. He assists executives, managers, entrepreneurs, and boards of directors with infringement, business assessments, strategic equity investments, opinion work, venture capital financing, stock offerings, and private placements.   

Before joining the firm, Curtis practiced for over two decades at an Am Law 200 firm, where he was the partner in charge of the office. There, his team filed over 650 original applications per year. Prior to becoming a lawyer, he worked as a design and systems engineer with industrial stalwarts BAE Systems, Lockheed-Martin IR Imaging Systems, Loral Infrared & Imaging Systems, Honeywell Electro-Optics division, and Hughes Aircraft Electro-Optics and Data Systems Group.

Curtis earned his undergraduate and master's degrees in engineering (optics) from the University of Rochester, his law degree from the New England School of Law, and his M.B.A. from the University of Denver – Daniels College of Business. He also earned his Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Rochester.
