(April 18, 2017) —Four members of Cozen O’Connor’s Labor & Employment group have been named to the 2017 LawDragon/Human Resource Executive (HRE) magazine’s top Labor & Employment lists. Anna Wermuth, vice chair of the Labor & Employment Department, was named one of the “Top 20 Traditional Labor & Employment Attorneys” in the nation. For the seventh year in a row, Joseph Tilson, chair of the department, and A. Martin Wickliff, Jr., were named to the nation’s “Top 100 Most Powerful Employment Lawyers” list, and Jeremy Glenn was named an “Up & Comer” in Employment Law.
These annually produced lists pair LawDragon, a Los Angeles-based network for lawyers and clients, and HRE in presenting the nation’s leading labor and employment defense lawyers. The attorneys on the list were selected from more than 5,000 submissions by clients and peers.
As vice-chair of the firm’s national Labor & Employment Department and co-chair of its Higher Education Industry Group, Wermuth represents management in labor and employment litigation before state and federal courts and administrative agencies such as the EEOC, the Department of Labor, and the National Labor Relations Board. She is recognized for her work representing colleges and universities in union organizing campaigns, collective bargaining, and faculty litigation.
In addition to serving as chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Labor & Employment Department, Tilson is a co-managing partner of the firm’s Chicago office. His practice entails representing employers in large scale employment litigation and labor arbitrations. In the past 30 years, Tilson has tried more than 150 jury and non-jury cases before the full range of courts, administrative agencies and labor arbitrators. He is nationally known for his knowledge and success in handling large wage and hour class action cases, but he also has vast experience in collective bargaining involving large and complex bargaining units. Tilson is the vice-chair of the American Bar Association’s Labor & Employment Law Section. He has been recognized as one of the nation’s top labor and employment lawyers, including being named the Chicago Employment Law “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers in 2011, 2014 and 2017, and consistently achieving a Band 1 ranking from Chambers USA.
