Aylix focuses her practice on commercial real estate transactions and consumer financial services litigation. Her dual focus allows her to provide both litigation and transactional support to financial institutions and lenders across a broad spectrum of matters.
In her real estate transaction practice, Aylix represents institutional lenders in commercial real estate finance transactions involving multifamily properties and other commercial real estate. Aylix primarily represents lenders who originate and sell multifamily mortgage loans to Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, many of which are then pooled and sold into securitization trusts. As lender’s counsel, Aylix prepares and negotiates loan documents, examines and analyzes entity organizational documents, trust documents, land use restriction agreements, regulatory agreements, condominium and homeowners’ association documents, and other legal due diligence. She identifies and resolves title and survey issues, negotiates title insurance coverage and works with all transaction parties to ensure a smooth closing.
In her financial services litigation practice, Aylix defends creditors, fintech companies, collection agencies, and debt buyers at both federal and state levels. She has substantial experience defending clients against claims brought under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), and other consumer protection laws and regulations. Aylix also offers strategic guidance regarding compliance and risk management.
Aylix joined Cozen O'Connor in 2025 along with her colleagues from Minneapolis' oldest law firm, Moss & Barnett. Prior to that, she served for two years as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Lawrence R. Johnson in the Tenth Judicial District. Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Aylix graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. from the University of Minnesota. She earned her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School, where she was an articles editor for the Law and Inequality: A Journal of Theory and Practice. During law school, she was a summer extern to the Honorable Chief Judge Michael Davis of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
