Bethany provides advice and counsel on a broad spectrum of employment law issues including: contingent workforce issues, employee relations, performance management, leaves of absence and accommodations, wage and hour, internal investigations and compensation. She also has defended management in employment litigation matters involving claims of wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, breach of contract and other employment claims. She has represented employers before administrative agencies including the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Prior to joining the firm, Bethany was employment counsel at Lyft Inc. and practiced employment law at other firms in San Francisco, including her own law firm. While at Lyft Inc., she developed formalized leave of absence and accommodation practice, policy, and process. She also developed and conducted training and education programs for employees, managers, and the people team. As in-house counsel, Bethany gained insight regarding in-house legal teams’ need to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and manage projects with a team-oriented approach. She has also conducted audits, classification reviews and supported other compliance efforts. Bethany has first-hand experience of the challenges faced by in-house teams in both established and startup technology businesses.
Bethany earned her bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, from Oregon University. Bethany earned her law degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School.
